As a therapist, I often have difficulty talking about me as I am trained to not talk about me. I have worked in the field of mental health since around 2005. In 2009, I obtained my masters degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. In 2014 I obtained my LMHC (licensed mental health counselor) license. I launched my private practice in 2015 which is doing well today. In 2017 I started a doctorate in Community Care and Counseling and I focused on traumatology. I graduated in May of last year (2023). I enjoy being a therapist and helping others but I get that therapists experience stress in business because I have experienced it first hand, especially during the pandemic. This lead me to study compassion fatigue and burnout for my dissertation. I learned a great deal from this research and learned some ideas from my participants about how to help other therapists. A few months later, together with an experienced business coach, we launched Attainable Vision LLC. As I launched this, I found out that building a business coaching business and advertising is completely different from launching and advertising a therapy business. For my therapy practice, I had to teach myself business, marketing etc because they don't train us with this in therapy school. I listened to so many podcasts and tons of Youtube videos to absorb marketing ideas. Over time I discovered what worked for that business. But again, this business is completely unique. I identified my viewpoint on building a business or philosophy was "growing together," so I launched a podcast where I interview other entrepreneurs so we can mutually support each other in business. I named this Dr. Willey's Business for Nerds. I am a nerd and could go on a tangent on all of that. Through this podcast and building Facebook groups, I met Elizabeth Walker. I call her my business bestie. She introduced me to Scott Perry who follows a view of Be a Blessing Marketing and I am currently integrating that view into my marketing strategy which has opened more doors. I have 2 Facebook groups and write on Substack. I am launching some memberships and a coaching program. I feel like the business is starting to grow now but it is so hard to build a business. I get it.
