Empowering Freelancers: The Karl Swanepoel Story
Karl Swanepoel's journey through entrepreneurship is grounded in practicality and genuine passion. At the age of 13, he started freelancing and quickly found out the problems that freelancers face.
As a result, he started BuySellJobs at the age of 15, a freelancing marketplace, which grew to over 2,000 users on organic traffic. He was able to sell BuySellJobs at a modest sum before his 16th birthday.
Recognising his potential, he was appointed as the youngest-ever brand ambassador for Europe’s largest business conference, The Business Show, where he became a keynote speaker.
At the age of 18, he opened his first high-street office for a web agency he established with a modest initial budget of under £100 after just two months, catering to clients such as the NHS and Harlow College.
Whilst in his final year, Karl started Revolancer, a VC-backed tech startup with a goal to revolutionise the freelancing space.
Shortly after graduating with a degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, he secured pre-seed funding from London-based Venture Capital firm SFC Capital for Revolancer.
Karl's role as an Ambassador at The Business Show demonstrated his knack for collaboration and mentorship. Through initiatives like TheWatchFace and Leapinto, he aimed to bridge gaps and provide guidance in various fields.
His Revolancer venture has seen substantial growth, with a £160k pre-seed round led by SFC Capital and endorsements from notable figures, Karl Swanepoel's journey remains a testament to practical innovation and a genuine desire to empower others.
